the purpose of this blog
As the adopted daughter of an incredible and selfless mom, grief hit me harder than I ever imagined when she passed away. Despite knowing her time was limited due to her terminal illness, I had convinced myself that this foreknowledge would soften the blow.
It didn’t—it was devastating.
In the aftermath of her loss, I clung to the beautiful words my mom shared with me during the three years leading up to her passing, as well as the years before her diagnosis. Those words became my anchor.
Alongside those words, I found solace in various resources. I read books on grief, started therapy, and joined online grief communities. These experiences not only helped me heal but also inspired me to support others in navigating the loss of a parent.
As a writer, I felt compelled to share my reflections on grief. Writing has always been a therapeutic outlet for me, and I hope that my words can also offer you comfort and guidance as you journey through your loss.
